The island of Eleuthera is the true birthplace of the Bahamas, dating back to the 1600's. The word itself means 'freedom', and you will certainly feel that during your stay.

With miles and miles of stunning white sand beaches, the wonder that is the Glass Window Bridge, and settlements spanning the island, each with thier own very distinct personality and feel.

Your Gun Point vacation can be as relaxing as you wish it to be if you want to be on your own to leisurely sun bathe, swim or snorkel the local reefs, abundant with tropical fish.

Some of the best Deep Sea Fishing in the Bahamas is in this area, and many of the largest fish caught worldwide were captured on the nearby Dutch Bar.

Bonefish are abundant and fly or reef fishing is an exhilarating challenge to any angler.

Several Dive centers in the area offer superb diving for the novice to the expert.

Getting Here

There are direct scheduled flights to the North Eleuthera Airport from Atlanta, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Nassau.  Check with your local travel agent or online for schedules and fares.  There is also Bahamas Fast Ferries services from Nassau to Spanish Wells daily.  The North Eleuthera Airport (ELH) is ten miles away from Gun Point.


Spanish Wells is a quaint Fishing village located across the channel from Gun Point, and is known as the "Lobster Capital" of The Bahamas. It has shopping, restaurants, liquor stores and grocery stores, as well as a bakery known for its sweet bread and pastries. Charters for fishing, diving, snorkeling, excursions and tours have bases in Spanish Wells.

There is a resident doctor and nurse located in Spanish Wells, as well as dentist and pharmacy. Commonwealth Bank, a bank based throughout The Bahamas is also located in the settlement.

Transportation to and from Spanish Wells is available through the ferry service at a nominal fee.
